Meet the Team

Belfast Pride is run by a dedicated voluntary team with the one aim of fighting for Equal rights for the LGBT+ community in Belfast. The committee is supported by a larger volunteer team who also dedicate their time to offer their skills, experiences and expertise to enable us to deliver the biggest LGBT+ Festival on the island of Ireland.

 

Craig Kirkwood
Deputy Parade Manager

Working closely with Gerard, Craig is Belfast Pride’s deputy Parade Manager. Craig ensures that the parade runs smoothly on the day and also helps with organising the parade throughout the year in the run up to the Parade day, working closely with our Parade entries and also with the Parade briefing. Craig has a background working with St. John Ambulance, managing events and security experience when previously working with Select Security.

Gemma Kelly
Fundraising Manager

Belfast Pride’s fundraising is managed by Gemma. She is responsible for organising fundraising projects and events, training fundraising volunteers and supervising volunteers at fundraising events. Gemma is also responsible for building partnerships with venues and sponsors to ensure that income can be maintained to deliver the festival. Gemma has a background in Youth Work and community and corporate fundraising.

Gerard McAtamney
Parade Manager

As Parade Manager for Belfast Pride, Gerard has overall responsibility for the biggest single parade in Belfast including operational management, funding, revenue control and volunteer management. Gerard is responsible for making sure that the parade meets Parading law as managed by the Northern Ireland Parades Commission and that Belfast Pride safely manages the crowds in and around the parade. Gerard has a background in management and planning in transport logistics and distribution.

Liam Cripps
Senior Event Manager

Belfast Pride events including the political debate Pride Talks Back and the Big Pride Picnic Family Day are Liam’s responsibility. Liam is also Belfast Pride’s Accessibility Manager with responsibility for Belfast Pride’s ongoing Accessibility work, aiming to ensure that the festival is as inclusive as possible for people with varying levels of abilities and specific needs. Liam has a background in IT management and working with groups supporting people with disabilities and/or autism.

Maria Armstrong
Volunteer Co-ordinator

As Belfast Pride’s Volunteer Co-ordinator, Maria manages Team Pride’s large and diverse volunteer team – Team Pride. Maria works hard at innovating the recruitment processes and at retaining our diversity by providing opportunities to as many people in the community as possible and retaining trained and experienced volunteers who can pass on skills and support to the new volunteers. Maria has a background in Youth Work and Youth Enterprise programmes.

Tracey Smyth
Senior Event Manager

Tracey is responsible for large scale events including Party in the Square which is held in Custom House Square, the Belfast Pride Launch and Pride Awards in Belfast City Hall. She was also managing the 2020 online event. Tracey has a background in administrative management and working with students and young people.

Seán Ó Néill
Chairperson

Seán has been a part of Belfast Pride since 2012 and is responsible for overseeing projects within Belfast Pride as well as the strategic direction of the organisation. Previously he was a Board member of Cara-Friend, Board member for Citizen’s Advice and Advice NI and was a part of the LGBT Switchboard team. Seán has a background in Training, Mentoring and Community Work in disadvantaged areas and with marginalised groups.
